Special Interest Group: Autommotive

The objective pursued by the automotive special interest group is to aid the professionals in the field in meeting the challenges they face in their day-to-day work. This is achieved by enabling participants to exchange their views and transfer their knowledge on current topics relevant to developing software for the automotive industry. Special focus is placed on methodology, quality assurance and testing. Moreover, the group enables the establishment and maintenance of contacts between people working in the industry and those working in academia and research.

The increasing demands placed on automobile manufacturers in terms of reducing vehicles’ emissions and fuel consumption, while increasing the comfort and safety of automobiles, have reached a point at which they can only be met using software-based systems. For this purpose, modern motor vehicles are fitted with a large number of interlinked, electronic control modules. This means that obviously software is developing into a decisive factor for the automobile industry.
