Special Interest Group: Java/XML

The objectives of the Java/XML special interest group are, on the one hand, to enable participants to exchange their views and their knowledge in Java/XML, while also assisting Java users to stay in touch and maintain their contacts to people working in the industry and in research as well as in professional training. For this purpose, the special interest group hosts lectures and discussion forums several times a year.

At special interest group meetings, participants report on their practical experiences with the current technologies in the field of Java/XML. The topics addressed in the Java/XML special interest group also include methods and tools for Java and XML that are presented and evaluated, as well as previews of the language extensions and new APIs for future Java versions. Comparisons with competing technologies, in particular with Microsoft’s .NET, are also part of the work done by the group, as are standardization activities in the field of XML.
